Pope Leo XIV to visit Assisi

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV will visit Assisi to conclude an international meeting organized by the Community of Sant'Egidio. The event, titled "Disarmed and Disarming Peace," is scheduled to take place from October 25 to 27.

The visit marks the 40th anniversary of the first international meeting for peace in Assisi, which was promoted by Saint John Paul II. Father Marco Moroni, Custodian of the Sacred Convent, said the news of the visit confirms a promise the Pope made to him on November 20 last year. Moroni noted that the Pope mentioned he intended to return to Assisi several times this year following a prayer at the tomb of Saint Francis.
