Pope Leo XIV releases video message for 100th World Mission Day

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV released a video message on Wednesday, October 7, to mark the upcoming 100th World Mission Day on Sunday, October 18.

The Pope expressed gratitude for the impact of the annual celebration, which was established 100 years ago by his predecessor. He shared that the prayers and contributions of the faithful supported his own missionary work in Peru and helped prepare his heart to answer the call to follow Jesus as a missionary.

Pope Leo XIV said he hopes the centenary encourages every diocese and parish to pray for evangelization, promote missionary vocations, and support the work of the Obras Misionales Pontificias.
