The Health Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Lima held a workshop to improve mental health accompaniment

The Health Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Lima conducted a free workshop titled "Cuida tu salud: salud mental" at the Santa Rosa de Lima Parish in Lince. Approximately 400 pastoral workers, laypeople, and members of the public attended the session to improve their ability to listen to and accompany others through a human, scientific, and religious perspective.

Father Luis Carlos Aguilar, a priest with a doctorate in psychology and coordinator for CEPRAP and CELAM, led the workshop. The program consisted of a lecture on mental health followed by a participatory activity. Father Aguilar stated that caring for mental health is a fundamental part of the Church's mission and pastoral accompaniment.

The workshop followed a call from Pope Leo XIV to pray during October for people suffering from mental health issues. Father Aguilar emphasized the need for pastoral workers to create safe spaces where people can express emotions and experiences without fear of judgment.
