Pilgrims in Fátima pray for Pope Leo XIV's health

Pilgrims at the Sanctuary of Fátima included Pope Leo XIV in their prayers during the October 12 and 13 anniversary pilgrimage. Attendees gathered for a vigil to pray for the health of the Pope, who is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove a lung nodule.

The Archbishop of Braga, José Cordeiro, who serves as the president of the pilgrimage celebrations, led prayers for the Pope's rapid recovery. During a homily on October 13, Cordeiro asked for the protection of the successor of Peter as the Pope prepared for hospitalization at Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

The rector of the Sanctuary of Fátima, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, expressed optimism that the Pope will visit the site next year when his schedule allows, citing assurances from the Apostolic Nuncio, Andrés Carrascosa Coso. The Bishop of Leiria-Fátima, José Ornelas, also spoke to journalists to support the pilgrimage and the Pope.
