Pope Leo XIV to intensify evangelization

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV has called on Catholics in Mexico to increase their efforts in evangelization and mercy during the Guadalupe Jubilee Year. The jubilee marks the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the new Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City and the transfer of the image of Mary to the shrine.

In a message signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, the Pope encouraged believers to ensure that the light of God's word, the comfort of the sacraments, and the support of prayer reach everyone. He also noted that the Christian roots of Mexico are deeply woven into the country's history.

The jubilee celebrations began with a Mass where the faithful prayed for the Pope's health.
