Bishop Artur Ważny condemned the vandalism of a monument in Sosnowiec that commemorates Jewish victims of the ghetto.

In a statement from the Diocese of Sosnowiec, the bishop expressed sadness over the destruction of the memorial. He stated that the Church community must not remain silent when vandalism profanes sites marked by the suffering of others. Ważny described the destruction of such memorials as a dangerous echo of old prejudices and called for the perpetrators to be punished.

The bishop urged members of the diocese to pray for peace and for the removal of hatred and xenophobia from their hearts. He also requested prayers for those hurt by the incident and for the perpetrators, asking that they realize the evil of their actions. Ważny said that remembering innocent victims is a sacred duty that helps build modern identity.
