Adénocarcinome pulmonaire : quelle est cette tumeur retirée à Léon XIV ?

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Doctors confirmed that the nodule removed from Pope Leo XIV on Tuesday, October 13, is a pulmonary adenocarcinoma. Juanita Mora, a spokesperson for the American Lung Association, told AFP that this type of tumor generally originates from a primary cancer.

The 71-year-old pope's diagnosis indicates he has lung cancer that did not spread from another part of the body. According to oncologist David Spigel of the Sarah Cannon Research Institute, pulmonary adenocarcinoma is the most common type of non-small cell lung cancer, which is the most frequent category of the disease.
