Archbishop Lauro Tisi delivers homily on All Saints' Day

Archbishop Lauro Tisi called for a civilization of love during his homily for the Solemnity of All Saints at the monumental cemetery in Trento on November 1. Addressing the assembly, Tisi stated that no machine can replace the strength of a smiling face, a hand that wipes away tears, or a hug. He described the gathering of people to remember loved ones as a hymn to humanity that stands in contrast to the dominance of technology, finance, and the economy in modern life.

Tisi began his homily by referencing an image used by Pope Benedict XVI, who described the feast of All Saints as a contemplation of an ocean of life and goodness. The archbishop noted that this goodness is generated by men and women who worked for justice, raised children, fed the poor, and shared joy with those around them. He invited the faithful to celebrate the Eucharist with gratitude for those they have loved and those who loved them.
