First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Cardinal Pietro Parolin celebrated Mass at the tomb of Saint John Paul II in St. Peter's Basilica on October 22, 2026. The liturgy coincided with the liturgical memorial of the late Polish pope.

Approximately 100 priests and numerous faithful attended the Mass. During his homily, Cardinal Parolin asked for the gift of peace through the intercession of Saint John Paul II. He cited the late pope's 2005 teaching that peace is a good to be promoted, protected, and cultivated through good choices and good works. The cardinal noted that this prayer for peace is especially relevant in a world currently affected by wars.
