Cardinal Parolin: Develop 'culture of care' for people affected by rising sea levels (Holy See Mission)

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Holy See's Secretary of State, called on the international community to create a culture of care for people impacted by rising sea levels. Speaking at a recent United Nations meeting, Parolin stated that this culture must turn knowledge into responsibility and responsibility into action through solidarity, justice, and international cooperation.

Parolin said the world needs stronger efforts to mitigate climate change while ensuring vulnerable nations have the resources they need. He specifically noted that small island developing states and low-lying coastal communities require access to financial, technological, and technical resources to help them adapt, build resilience, and address loss and damage.

The Cardinal added that global commitment should be measured by the determination to protect the dignity of every person and to build a future for coming generations, rather than just by the policies that are adopted.
