Pope Leo XIV says Church is holy, human and ever in need of conversion

Pope Leo XIV described the Church as a community defined by a tension between glory and fragility in the document Magnifica humanitas.

In section 239 of the document, the Pope stated that the covenant between glory and fragility serves as the standard for evaluating anthropological models presented by contemporary culture. He applied this concept to the human person both as an individual and as part of a corporate group.

The text notes that this relationship reflects the experience of the faithful as a people of hope who also experience mourning and weeping. This dynamic characterizes the Church as a community of both the universal sacrament of salvation and a remnant of the poor and needy.
