Pope Leo XIV addresses Greek-Melkite Catholic bishops

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with bishops of the Greek-Melkite Catholic Church on Saturday, October 10, during a Synod of Bishops for the Eastern Catholic Church.

In an address to the bishops, the Pope described the synod as a moment for communion and service rather than just an act of governance. He extended greetings to the priests, religious men and women, seminarians, and the faithful of the Melkite Church both in their traditional territories and throughout the global diaspora.

The Pope noted that the early Christians in Antioch were recognized by their charity. He encouraged the Melkite community to continue witnessing to God through actions such as feeding the hungry, providing healthcare and education, and supporting those who suffer.
