Pope Leo XIV meets French episcopate

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with French bishops on September 27 at the Saint Bernadette Hall in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. The meeting, which began at 9 a.m., served as a platform for the Pope to share his assessment of the Catholic Church in France and suggest future directions for the country's religious life.

During his remarks, the Pope noted that the bishops' choice of Lourdes for their meeting demonstrates a desire to place the French Church under the protection of the Virgin Mary. He stated that devotion to Mary is a way to reach Jesus and represents a continuation of the faith heritage established during the early evangelization of France.
