Pope Leo XIV inspires Peregrinatio Reliquiae in Trentino Alto Adige

The Franciscan Order of Trentino Alto Adige will host the Peregrinatio Reliquiae from October 10 to November 17, 2026. The tour features the footwear of Saint Francis, which will travel through various parishes and communities in the region.

The journey marks the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis. This centennial follows a message from Pope Leo XIV to the Ministers General of the Franciscan Family, in which he noted that the life of Saint Francis serves as an authentic source of peace.

The chosen relics are the shoes donated to Saint Francis after he received the stigmata, which made walking difficult. The organizers intend for the tour to serve as a time of prayer and listening for Franciscan fraternities and local communities.
