Pope Leo XIV participates in torchlight procession at Lourdes

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV joined pilgrims in a torchlight procession and the recitation of the Rosary at the Sanctuary of Lourdes on Sunday night, September 27. The pope walked behind the statue of the Virgin Mary, describing himself as a pilgrim among pilgrims.

Following the procession and the Rosary, the pope addressed the assembly, describing the candlelight as a symbol of Christian hope that remains even during life's trials. He invited the faithful to entrust their intentions to Mary and specifically asked the congregation to entrust all sick people to her intercession. He noted that those who are ill serve as special witnesses to how faith and love for God can transform existence.
