Pope Leo XIV honors Polish martyrs of Pratulin

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV honored Blessed Wincenty Lewoniuk and his 12 companions during a general audience. These greco-catholics were killed by soldiers of the Russian Empire in the Podlasie region during the 19th century after refusing to renounce their faith.

During his first general audience following an apostolic journey to France, the Pope addressed the Polish people and highlighted the martyrs' commitment to remaining in communion with the successor of Peter. He asked for the intercession of Lewoniuk and his companions for Christian unity and for Catholics currently facing persecution for their faith.
