Pope Leo XIV will be hospitalized late this morning, October 13, to undergo surgery to remove a lung nodule. Matteo Bruni confirmed the procedure, noting that the nodule was discovered during routine examinations.

The Pope is expected to remain at the Policlínica Gemelli in Rome for approximately one week. He informed the public of the upcoming hospitalization yesterday following the Angelus prayer.

The medical procedure has already affected the papal schedule. The Pope will not participate in the meeting regarding the 10th anniversary of Amoris laetitia scheduled for this afternoon, nor will he preside over the closing Mass on Wednesday.
