Pope Leo XIV meets with French bishops

Pope Leo XIV met with bishops from the French Episcopal Conference at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. During the meeting, the Pope expressed his happiness at meeting the bishops in the location where they regularly hold their plenary assemblies.

The Pope noted that the history of the Church in France is immensely rich and has contributed to the building of the nation. He said the Church remains a significant part of the country's culture, identity, and vocation. He encouraged the bishops to use this history to help build the future of their pastoral communities and the country.

Pope Leo XIV also spoke about the faith of the people in France, mentioning the many shrines, pilgrimages, and cathedrals that testify to a living faith. He stated his confidence that the people of God in France will continue their mission of announcing and making Jesus Christ loved.
