Pope Leo XIV appoints Bishop Timothy Menezes as Bishop of Brentwood

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV appointed Timothy Menezes as the new bishop of Brentwood on October 10, 2026. Menezes previously served as an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Birmingham and as the titular bishop of Thugga.

Menezes succeeds Alan Williams, S.M., whose resignation the Pope accepted after Williams reached the age of 75 in March 2026. In a statement released by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, Menezes expressed gratitude for the appointment and asked the clergy, religious, and laity of the diocese to pray for him. He noted his intention to continue the work established by Williams.
