Pope Leo XIV convenes gathering to mark ten years since Amoris Laetitia

Pope Leo XIV convened a gathering in Rome to mark the tenth anniversary of the apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia, issued by the late Pope Francis. The meeting sought to revisit the document and its approach to accompanying families and couples.

The meeting has concluded, but any decisions regarding the deliberations are currently on hold while Pope Leo XIV recovers from surgery, according to Larry Chapp of Catholic World Report.

Participants at the gathering discussed the shift in pastoral focus from categorizing Catholics to viewing families as pilgrims. Discussions included how the Church accompanies various domestic situations, such as divorced and remarried individuals, couples living together, and those in sacramental marriages facing daily struggles with communication, finances, or intimacy.
