Pope Leo XIV invites faithful to pray the Rosary for peace

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV has invited the faithful to pray the Rosary during October to ask for an end to wars and the establishment of peace between conflicting peoples. He made the request following the Angelus prayer in Lourdes on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

The invitation coincides with the month of the Rosary and the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, celebrated on October 7. This feast was instituted to commemorate the victory at Lepanto in 1571 and was later extended to the entire Catholic Church by Pope Clement XI.

The Rosary consists of 20 mysteries from the lives of Jesus and Mary. According to the apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae, these are divided into four sets.
