Pope Leo XIV receives Bizot Group

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with leaders of the Bizot Group, an international network of major museum directors, at the Vatican on October 10. During the meeting, the pope welcomed group president Taco Dibbits and other museum executives to discuss the theme of materiality.

The pope described museums as places of memory, history, and connection between generations. He noted that museum objects transmit the wisdom of the past to the present and serve as a common heritage for humanity.

Addressing the role of art, Leo XIV stated that creativity should not be mere aestheticism but should orient people toward transcendent values. He explained that for the Church, art serves to proclaim the Gospel through beauty and that material elements can become places where God reveals himself.
