The Conference of European Bishops (CCEE) elected its new presidency for the 2026–2031 term during a plenary meeting in Salzburg on October 29. Archbishop Gintaras Grušas of Vilnius was re-elected to the presidency.
Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh and Archbishop Dražen Kutleša of Zagreb were elected as vice presidents.
The plenary assembly took place between October 27 and October 30. The meeting focused on the theme of evangelization and synodality regarding the mission of priests in Europe. The presidents of European episcopal conferences met to discuss strengthening priestly ministry and the Church's evangelizing mission amidst the social, cultural, and pastoral challenges of the continent.

St. Joseph Cathedral will host a religious poetry and music evening titled "Limanul infinitului" on Saturday, 7 November 2026, at 20:00. The event is part of an art-based evangelization program organized by the Magnificat Community.
The program features religious poetry written by Teofila Macarie, recited by Andreea Blăjuț and Iulia Codreanu. Musical accompaniment includes harp performances by Sora Annunziata and organ music by Dr. Cristian Petculescu. The musical selection will consist of original improvisations by Dr. Petculescu alongside works by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Frédéric Chopin, Ludwig van Beethoven, Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, and Carlos Salzedo.

Pope Leo XIV received Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I for a private audience at the Apostolic Palace on Saturday, October 24. According to Rome Reports, the two leaders discussed the international situation and matters concerning their respective churches. During the meeting, the Patriarch expressed wishes for the Pope's recovery following lung surgery on October 13.
The Patriarch's visit began on Friday, October 23, when the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Angelicum, awarded him an honorary doctorate in theology. The ceremony was attended by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Cardinal Kurt Koch, and Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti.
The visit included a pilgrimage to Loreto on Monday, October 26, to visit the Basilica of the Holy House of Nazareth and bless a new icon of the Mother of God. The Patriarch also participated in an international peace meeting in Assisi organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio on Tuesday, October 27. While the two leaders were scheduled to meet at the Assisi event, Rome Reports stated that Pope Leo XIV could not attend due to medical advice following his surgery.
