Vatican Surgery of Pope Leo XIV

Léon XIV recommence à marcher après son opération d’un cancer du poumon

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV has begun walking in his room and eating regular meals following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his right lung.

Vatican doctors released a statement on Wednesday afternoon, October 14, reporting that blood tests and a chest radiograph taken after the 90-minute operation on October 13 showed regular results. The medical team noted that the Pope's values are normal for this type of procedure and that his recovery is proceeding as planned.

The Pope has received respiratory physiotherapy and participated in a mass on Wednesday afternoon. Because the chapel in the papal apartments is currently undergoing restoration, the mass was held in a room on the 10th floor.
