Pope Leo XIV appointed Bishop Robert W. Marshall, Jr. as the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Shreveport. Bishop Marshall will continue to serve as the bishop of the Diocese of Alexandria while managing the Shreveport diocese until the next bishop is installed.

The appointment follows the resignation of Bishop Francis I. Malone, who submitted his resignation on his 75th birthday more than a year ago. Bishop Malone served as a priest for 49 years and as a bishop for six and a half years. Bishop Marshall announced the decision during a visit to Shreveport.
