Pope Leo XIV identifies charity as a remedy for human fragmentation

Pope Leo XIV told delegates of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Joanna Antida Thouret that charity is essential to restore and respect human dignity. Speaking during an audience at the Vatican, the Pope said modern society tends to fragment people both among one another and within themselves. He urged the congregation to value and spread charity, particularly for the poor and those in need.

The Pope encouraged the sisters to remain attentive to the spiritual and temporal well-being of others, describing this mission as part of the heritage received from the founder. He stated that being rooted in Christ allows people to draw closer to one another and increases their capacity to help others. He also noted the importance of giving together within the Church.
